Short maternity leave

Hi

Currently pregnant with my first baby and due in November. I'm British but I'm living in another country where maternity leave is only 6 weeks.

I'm trying to accept this without getting too envious of my other pregnant friends in England currently planning their 9-12 months off work. I know this is normal in many countries around the world eg USA so I need to just get on with it.

Does anyone have any advice or tips on how to go back to work when baby will still be small? I'm worried about both the physical and emotional aspects on both me and the baby!

Thank you 😊

Following as I am potentially looking at a short mat leave after accepting a new job and a surprise BFP... I took 6 months off with both my babies and for me it was definitely enough, being at work was definitely a break compared to being at home but I was able to share the parental leave with DH who took 6 months off too.

Who would be looking after the baby?
