What if no suitable redeployment job? Advise me please :)

I work for the NHS and am facing redeployment as the team I work for it closing down (due to lack of funding). I've been advised that everything possible will be done to offer me a new job within the same Trust. Being a single parent without any childcare help and no transport, I'm quite limited in terms of where I can reasonably travel to for work.
If I don't find a new job myself or accept one of the redeployment offers within the Trust, will my contract just be "terminated"? For reference purposes I want to know what it would say because i thought "terminated" sounds like the wording used when someone is dismissed. Would I still be entitlted to claim unemployment benefit if I decline an unrealistic redeployment offer (eg, if it's in a place I can't possibly reach or it conflicts too much with school run times)?

Hi Maxine, if there are no suitable alternative roles then you would be made redundant and get however much money paid out based on your years of service, as long as you had been there for more than 2 years.
It's possible you and your managers might disagree on what is reasonable or not though. Are you in a union? I would get them involved if you haven't already.

If you are facing redundancy, your employer can offer you an suitable alternative job. You don't have to take it (and take redundancy instead), but there are some rules around this. I think you can refuse the new position if it's lower pay, too far from your previous location or very different type of work.

So it really depends if you are actually facing redundancy and what you get offered as alternative employment.

Yes your contract would be terminated, you would be dismissed, by reason of redundancy. You would get redundancy pay if you’ve been there more than two years, if it was reasonable of you to refuse an offer of redeployment. Your personal circumstances are relevant to this.

I think it would be called a "no fault dismissal".

Your employer should be able to provide you with a list of all the available vacancies in your Trust & wider area on a weekly basis & I recommend applying asap.

If you are made redundant, the minimum payment can be found on www.gov.uk, but your employer may provide you with an extra payment
Ensure that your employer provides you with a contact for future references

The next day after being made redundant, apply for universal credit contributions based job seekers allowance. If you rent, you will receive some money towards this too. Apply via www.gov.uk

I know people whose job was relocated 200 miles away. The choice was redundancy or continue with the job which was miles away. Although a small contribution was made for relocation purposes
