Contacting old employer?

I’m currently employed part time. Looking for another job, realise it’s probably not the best time to be looking.

I’ve been thinking of contacting my old employer to see if there’s anything available there, haven’t been in touch for the best part of around 15 years though! We did part on really good terms though & got on very well.

Has anyone done this before? Or are you an employer yourself & had an ex employee contact you after a long while?

Would I look silly? Thoughts please!

If looking silly (not even face to face) is the worst thing that can happen then why not?

Could you try and connect with them on LinkedIn?

Why not, you have absolutely nothing to lose.

Actually, I think the current climate makes it even easier to do this sort of thing. It's tough out there right now and you'd have to be quite incredibly insular/blind/idiotic not to recognise that and at least have a bit of sympathy for somebody actively reaching out to any and all contacts for work at the moment. Doesn't mean they will have work for you, but ought to mean they won't think any less of you for asking.

Go for it.
