Returning to work - given new job description

CushionHugger · 14/07/2020 14:29

In talks with work about coming back and I have been given a new job description with an additional manager to work for.
As far as I know my mat leave cover did not take him on and they are using my return as an opportunity to move him from another PA to me.

No extra money offered.

Is this normal?

Seems fine to me, as long as having more than one manager to work is doable within your contracted hours.
Why wouldn't it be?

*to work for.

It seems fine so long as the JD is just an update to ensure it's an accurate/up to date record of what your job actually is, rather than a wholesale/unreasonable change of duties or change of status. And it's pretty common for PAs to work for more than one person so again I would say that is reasonable unless as PP says, it creates an unmanageable workload for you.

Sorry - just need to clarify, you are a PA? And you work under a certain number of managers. And now you will be providing PA services to an additional manager?

Does this materially change your role?

CushionHugger · 14/07/2020 17:25

Thanks for replies.

I have two managers (primary and secondary) at the moment and have worked for others in the past but I never received updated JDs for those situations which is what made me question it.

It will increase my wl but as we aren't travelling it should be manageable. When we go back to normal perhaps not.

My cover emailed me a couple of times saying she was bored, and made it known she wanted more work by talking to HR and to both managers.

So in that respect the role will have changed with all the additional duties she requested and the JD will reflect that.

She begged me to return early because she was so bored.

Sounds reasonable then.
