Leadership Style Interview Question

Hello,
I had an interview for a job yesterday which I didn’t get. One of the questions I was asked was about my leadership style. The only type I could think of was ‘collaborative’ and i waffled on about that. I’m interested to hear how other people would answer this question please.
I’m getting feedback next week so will have more of an idea about what I need to improve on.
Thanks in advance Grin

Collaborative sounds like you want to be their friend so hopefully the additional information was about persuasion and making them feel empowered whilst still ensuring the main goals of the company were achieved.
I think it depends what the role is but I would probably say I’m an educator type leader and explain the way I show people how to do things without doing it for them and may throw in examples of my proudest outcomes from this style (I’m in accounting not a teacher before it’s asked ).

I would talk about how I am naturally a particular style, but how I adapt my style depending on the team I work in. It's good to be able to tailor feedback to the style that will work best for the person you are working with.
Good luck

Thank you. Both really good answers and definitely something to think of and use at future interviews.
