Maternity Redundancy

Has anyone been made redundant before you were about to take maternity leave? Or during your maternity leave?
If so, how did it work? How much notice were you given and did you take further action?

I was made redundant on maternity leave along with other colleagues who were not. They paid me my contractual notice period. Then they also paid me far more than the statutory redundancy pay . I suspect because I was the only person in that department made redundant. The thing is I was unlikely to go back as I had a 2 hour commute each way. I ended up with the equivalent of 14 months gross pay so it wasn't an issue.

As long as they follow the correct procedures and don't select you based on maternity you will be entitled to the same package as if you were working.
