Can my work not pay me?

I'm contracted for 30 hours a week. Part of my service has closed down but I've managed to make up my hours with staff who have been off shielding. Most shielding staff are back soon meaning I can not make up my lost hours. If my work cannot offer me the hours will i lose out?

Should they not furlough you if you have no work

dementedpixie · 27/06/2020 20:16

what sort of job and what has your employer said?

killerofmen · 27/06/2020 20:19

Broadly, if you're contracted for 30hrs per week they have to pay you. However there are steps they can take to vary your contract.

Have you been furloughed at any point before 10 June? If you haven’t, then you won’t be able to be put onto furlough now.

They will either look to keep you covering work & keep a colleague on furlough, pay you full-time hours for whatever hours you can work, or discuss redundancies.

Either way, you need to speak to them regarding what the plan is.

Thankyou for replies @killerofmen thankyou. I was sure they couldnt just reduce my pay but im having a moment at the weekend so I appreciate someone saying that. It helps to have someone reinforce what I thought!
