'Please give your reasons for applying for this post' followed by 3/4 of a page space to write in! Eek!

Can't really write 'it's 10mins walk from school and hours are looking pretty flexible so far' can I? Have done a bit about staying in the public sector/helping others (it's an adult learning admin job) but it looks a bit sparse given the huge space available.
What do you think employers want to hear?
Thanks for any help

Write big.

(sorry couldn't resist...)

Talk about how it fits in with your career plans (however limited they might be, you will have or can have some thought about what you want to achieve and gain from your work and how this job will help you do that.

Talk about how you think the post will help your personal development, what you will learn from it.

Talk about what skills/experience you will bring to the post and how that will benefit the organisation/adult learners/whoever.

Thanks, posted it this morning. Really don't want a job but promised DH as he's feeling the pressure of being sole provider. Darned if you do and you're darned if you don't.

Got an interview but have just cancelled it (really think I would have got the job!). Have decided to go in a completely different direction and do care work on a temp basis. Feel much better about being a temp, not ready to commit and will be great to learn some new skills.
