Changing career after having kids - any tips

Hello everyone,

I'm looking for positive stories really, from women who have successful changed their career after having children. I've got a good degree I never ended up using (English with Drama) and I just took an unqualified post in Adult Social Care after qualifying as it was local and steady work to enable me to have my family. So it served a good purpose. I've been in this post now for 11 years. I've got two lovely boys and now I feel the time has come to start thinking about where to anchor my career. FWIW I'm 38.

Having now had the children, I feel like I may need to take some kind of vocational qualification as my skills are somewhat rusty and I'm very out of touch with the professional world! I'm not sure what though! Did anyone else change career after having kids? How did you do it? Did you fund study yourself or did your employer help you out at all?

Any good suggestions as well for what careers I could potentially look into with this qualification as I'm really not sure what to do! I think I've lost a lot of direction, I've spent the last decade feeding babies!!!!

Thanks
