Some guidance here.

Have you been placed at risk of redundancy yet ? Unfortunately someone on Mat leave can be made redundant but there are additional protections to ensure this is handled fairly. Happy to explain or answer questions if you have more info on your situation.

You would have received maternity entitlement letter. SMP portion is secure as it's the govt paying (assuming you met the criteria). If they offer enhanced maternity you should get this as well subject to being employed by the business. You can be made redundant during maternity. You get protection but if there is no actual job especially with the current environment I will suggest you take the redundancy package and hope that should almost equal mat pay.
For now, just wait until you are spoken to privately.

Hi
I wonder if you could help further.

Today's email said that people who do the same role across the sites will be fairly selected. And successful person will keep their job. They have also requested anyone complete a voluntary redundancy form if they want to take redundancy. I don't.
I'm still worried about SMP.

Any ideas please?

Hi there

If you are made redundant on or after the 25th week of your pregnancy you are entitled to all of your statutory maternity pay. In our organisation this is all paid as a lump sum on exit so worth checking what your company would do if that situation arises. If your company had their own occupational maternity pay you should check your maternity policy on what they do with that pay if you are made redundant. Again in our organisation we do pay this but that is our policy. From a statutory point of view you have to receive statutory maternity pay if you are at least 25 weeks pregnant when made redundant but anything over and above that is down to company policy.

Let me know what you find out.
