So my ds will hopefully be off to uni next year , its just me and him. I spent the last 15 years contracting, the last 5 were in order to support him through private school which at times was a struggle with minimal financial support from his father.
I now want to get out of contracting as despite the very good money i hate it , and its mentally draining with the constant hassle trying to keep myself employed.
So decided in 2017 that i wanted to go into marketing have clawed my way through doing my cim at night school with one more module to go , i also have managed to get a volunteer role doing marketing with a local charity which ive just started. I know when i finally to get my first proper marketing job the pay cut will be severe but to be honest i dont care , i already saved money for my sons rent for 3 years at uni in an account ( put all his child benefit in his child trust fund account for the 8/10 years ) so i dont need to find cash for him going forward but its still a bit scary stepping off the comfortable yet stressful ledge of a good income but to be honest my last contract which im still on by the skin of my teeth is killing me , even now im wfh.
I'm just feeling as if ive got to have something for myself now, hopefully my ds will be finding his own way soon and i'll be relegated to visits during the holidays and the odd weekend . Thinking about trying to find a job abroad need a total change of scenary and life !!
Rant over ....
