Redundancy pay when you’ve changed from full to part time role

I think I’m going to be made redundant from my role in the next few months. I’ve been with the company for 10 years- 6 years full time, 4 years part time. I’ve also had a change of role in that time- so 6 years full time in role 1 and 2 years part time in role one, then 2 years part time in role 2. The company pay one month’s pay for every year you’ve worked. I understand this will be based on my part time salary, as that’s the role that is being made redundant. But do my 6 years full time work and 2 years part time work in Role one still count towards the number of months? Eg do I get 2 months of part time pay? Or 10 months of part time pay? I’ve seen conflicting things on line. I know I can ask them to clarify it, but everything’s up in the air and I don’t know for sure it’s happening yet. Thanks for any advice!

Your service all counts but will only be paid at the rate you are paid in this current job that is being made redundant.

I was recently in the same situation. The redundancy payment was calculated on my current part time salary.

I had a friend in a similar situation was paid on or hours only

Do you have an employee handbook to check? In my work, you would convert your years’ service into equivalent full time. E.g. if your part time is 0.5 FTE you would have the equivalent of 8 years’ service (6+0.5x4).

The 8 years’ service would then be applied to the full time equivalent of your current salary.

Thanks All, and thanks MathsFiend, I think that’s what HR were trying to say when they were speaking about the policy, but it didn’t make sense to me at the time, that makes sense now!

Your length of service won’t change. It will all count. Your redundancy will be based on your salary now.
