Second interview. What to expect

I've got a second interview coming up on Monday. The email I received on Tuesday didn't say much other that you will get formal interview questions.

I've never done a second interview before. Can anyone give me any hints or what things to expect?

I'm not sure what to expect at all and a second interview was never hinted at as at my interview I was told I would receive the outcome on tuesday! I presumed this would be a yes or no but not this!

Can you ask what to expect? Say you want to prepare?

Some companies do 2nd interviews as standard and they've juat an extension of the first. Others are more structured and have a particular reason.

It could be to meet additional people

It could be an offer meeting

It could be to drill down on a particular answer you gave before

It can be lots of different things so best ask

@rosecreakybex sorry should've been clearer. I went back and asked and I was told formal interview questions. That's all they would give me Confused

Do you know who will be doing the interview? Will it be the same people of next level up?

For formal interview questions I would expect either technical or competency based questions.

Prepare a few good stories/examples which can cover multiple questions, look up the STAR technique.

One person is the same the other is different. I'm not sure who it is!

I think I'm just worrying over nothing but it is a bit daunting!

I'm sure it's just a case of being thorough then. Plus there may be an additional person who needs to meet you.

Often companies won't involve a senior person at first interview in case it's a waste of time.

If it's formal interview questions it'll just be more of the same or as the pp said, more technical stuff.

Do your revision again, brush up on star

Good luck!!! I've struggled to get one bloody interview in this lockdown!
