Fixed term contract ends in August

Hi. As the title says I'm on a fixed term contract which is due to end in August. With the current situation it's looking unlikely my contract will be extended.. I'm currently furloughed.. and there's talk of my workplace opening within the next month. I have a feeling I won't be going back and will just be kept on furlough.. will I be given notice if my contract isn't to be extended? I'm just so worried that I won't have a job to go back to 😩

What are the terms of your contract in terms of notice? Why don't you contact the company and ask what their plans are for you? They are the only ones that can tell you. And start looking for a new job in case.

I've contacted them and they can't give me an answer .. I work in a nursery so all depends on how many children come back.

If you are on a fixed term contract then your notice is already given. The contract contains the notice. It only runs on if they actually employ you after that end date, so they must do something - give you work - after that day to continue the contract. Assume it will end unless told otherwise.
