Has anyone trained as a dental nurse in later life?

Hello,

I’m considering applying to become a trainee dental nurse/apprentice. The local college has advised me that I would need to be working 30 hours per week in a dental practice to qualify for the course and this seems pretty standard. Because of the hours I will have to wait until my children start school, by which time I will be in my mid 30s.

So I’m wondering is it worth it? Would I stand a chance or is it only really open to school leavers?
