Job interview while pregnant

I have just found out I am 4 weeks pregnant (very early I know) and have a job interview at my local hospital this Thursday. Can anyone give me any advice on what to do? Do I go or cancel it due to the current situation? Do I have to disclose I'm pregnant?? This is all new to me so any advice will be greatly appreciated.

You should go. I wouldn’t tell them at 4 weeks as some people don’t even know at that point. If you get the job and they phone you back or if you have a second interview then tell them.

Don’t tell them. They are not allowed to take it into account anyway so it is unhelpful to tell them.

You don’t need to tell them until you are 25 weeks pregnant although you may choose to for H&S reasons or to aid planning. Most people don’t until 12 weeks anyway.

They have no need to know. However, if you're offered the job you may well need to disclose your pregnancy in order to have an appropriate risk assessment carried out.

I wouldn't tell them at any stage in the interview process. They are not allowed to discriminate and I wouldn't give them the opportunity to.

If you can get your hands on the employee handbook - if you proceed to an offer- so that you can see what the mat leave entitlement is.

Definitely go to the interview and don’t disclose that you’re pregnant. Like previous posters have said many women wouldn’t even know that they were pregnant yet or be letting family and friends know. I went for a job whilst pregnant with my second and didn’t say anything, I got the job. My manager was brilliant and I’m still with the company. Good luck!

Just bear in mind that if you take the job, you won't be eligible for statutory maternity pay. You should qualify for maternity allowance, which means you won't get the 6 weeks at 90% salary, and if you are eligible for Universal Credit once the baby is born, the MA is deducted pound for pound off your entitlement.
