Am I in a P60 black hole?

I left my previous job on 30 March this year and started my new job on 20 April.

Previous employer says they can’t give me a P60 as I wasn’t on their payroll on 5 April.

New employment only started on 20 April and due to lockdown I’ve nobody to ask at the moment.

Does anyone know if I’ll get a P60 this year?
Thanks

Didn't you get a P45 when you left the original job?

Yes, I just assumed I’d get a P60 later from them but I’ve since found out I won’t. I suppose I can always use my last payslip for year to date proof of figures if I need it. Just seems odd not getting one for first time in my life Smile

You won't get a P60 as you weren't employed by either employer at the relevant date so neither employer will give you one.

Your P45 will be proof of 19/20 income & if asked it's easy to explain why you don't have a P60.

Thanks @NatashaAlianovaRomanova
I’ve never not had one before so good to know.

You get a P60 from whichever employer employed you on 5th April. If you were not employed on 5th April you don’t get one.

Unless you signed on in which case you would get one from the job centre.
