Work or education?

I have the chance to attend university in September and also a full time job has come up as a care assistant which I have done before. I’m sort of torn between the two, I’m 22 with my own place and bills to pay, education it is financially doable.. just. I would be studying early childhood studies in hopes to eventually become a teacher or social worker. Im just pretty clueless really. Thoughts and experience would be greatly appreciated.

I would encourage you to take the opportunity with both hands.

You will still be able to do some shifts as a Care Assistant round University work.
At the end of your degree, if you decide that Care Asst work is what you want to do after all, you'll still be able to get a job, but it you realise you want to earn a lot more money over your lifetime, you will have the qualification to be able to go out and do that.

Care assistant jobs are incredibly common and very easy to get into.

Go to uni and better yourself, care work.is always there and they are always dying for recruits.

They always say yes you can work part time flexible shift and weeks later the agency starts pressuring you to work more til you are effwctively full time. Its not that much of an opportunity working full time as a carer because they always advertise and dersperate for carers. Go to uni.

Definitely education if you can. Can you do a couple of weekend night shifts as a carer in a home which will have a higher hourly rate? I did that at your age and it’s quieter at night so maybe you could take your books and study in quiet moments. We had 2 on night shift and sometimes used to get our head down as there was a buzzer system if clients needed us. They were checked on every hour so we used to take turns to sleep/read or whatever.
