I am going back to work pretty soon full time and my position will not have altered at all. Since I left two new people have been taken on to do the same job as me, one of whom I trained they are both being paid more than me and are both men. I have taken a year off though have been studying in that time also and have achieved a post-grad degree. I really want to ask for a payrise does anyone have any suggestions how i might go about it, by the way the company I work for are real b*ards!!

Hi monkeyfeet,
I would think of what you could do in case of a negetive. I would get information about sex discrimination as it sounds that you get pay less just because you are a woman. Contact ACAS (I don't know if I missed a letter). I am someone that when I have something to ask my boss, I have thought of all the probable outcames, and solutions to those. It makes it easier to think about a reply when you get a negative.
I think I have a similar problem, but I don't know if I get pay more or less than some of my collegues. As I have to pay childcare, I don't feel I can leave my job right now, but in a years time, we'll see.
Good luck!
