Dh works in a factory making signs, his work have asked who wanted to return tomorrow, most staff said no as they didn't feel safe due to contact and distancing etc. The company have came back and said as hardly anyone said yes jobs will be at risk etc, so dh said he will put himself forward, the company then choose who they want back out of who offers and the rest will be furloughed.

Dh due back to work tomorrow and his work have sent another email to say they are making a new contract as of tomorrow that they expect everyone to sign and they have to now work another week in hand???l and not get paid at the end of the month basically. Is this even allowed, who can we turn to? Feel like they have us bent over a barrell becausd they will know people need jobs and nowhere else will be taking on right now, husband also has car on finance so that adds to it! I did warn him that circumstances can change and he should t commit to finance but that's a whole other thread.

Anyone know where we stand and what should he say/do?

It looks like they have cash flow issues.

They are just wanting to defer payment for a week. He doesn't lose our as when he leaves or when the situation improves he will get paid.
I think they are desperate and it may be this is the only option to keep the business afloat until they can claim anything.
I would be looking at my bills to see if there is anything that must be paid and anything that can be moved back. Then I would negotiate a loan or sub to help. It isn't ideal to be deferring pay but it may be the only way to ensure people have jobs or go out of business for the sake of a week's pay problem?
