Bank hols when 0.8 FTE

Hi, just wondering if anyone has any advice/experience. I work 0.8 FTE Mon-Thurs and am off Fridays. So I was off anyway for the Good Friday bank holiday and I've just realised that the early May one has been moved from a Mon to a Fri this year! Because of the current situation I really need any additional time off I can get (DH working full time, we have 3 young kids at home). Does anyone know if I have any official right to request that I can take bank hols that fall on a Friday as an extra paid day elsewhere?
Thanks in advance for any advice!

Your bank holidays should already be included in your holiday entitlement so you should get 0.8 of whatever holidays + bank holidays full time staff get. The change of the bank holiday to Friday is in your favour as you won't need to use any holiday now as you are already off on that day.

Dementedpixie is right.

If full time staff get 20 days plus bank holidays, that equates to 28 days a year (the legal minimum). You would be entitled to 0.8 of that - 22.4 days. Any bank holidays that fall on your normal working days come out of that allowance. You can take the rest any time you want.

As you work full length days but only 4 days a week, then every bank holiday should be accounted for as 0.8 days "free" and 0.2 days out of your holiday allowance. It used to be that PT workers would just get the bank holidays of they fell on their normal working days and not otherwise, but legislation to ensure equal pay for work of equal value obliges employers to ensure there is no advantage or disadvantage to be gained from specific working days due to the vagaries of when bank holidays fall.

Really, really not. Why over-complicate?!

OP gets a total of 22.4 days a year inclusive of bank holidays (presumably rounded up to 22.5).

Where a bank holiday falls on one of her working days, this needs to be deducted from the total. If it falls on a day she doesn’t work, she doesn’t need to use a day to cover it. Simple.

thanks for all the replies, i only went PT a few months back so i didn't realise this was how it works with holiday allowance etc - feel a bit thick now! anyway, it seems like what i thought was bad timing is actually good timing, kind of. thank you everyone.
