What to do about this colleague

I am a temp in a government role .
Due to corona the role has totally changed but am classed as a key worker. The past two weeks have been stressful but the team has worked well.
A colleague came back after his self isolation and told me he didn’t know why I was there as I’m not even a key worker ( I am and we all got a letter ).

Later on in the afternoon we were talking about health and I said I have psoriasis and he called me a freak and said just shows you not everyone looks like and Instagram model. My other colleague said oh that’s not nice . I felt so embarrassed.
I felt so upset I had to walk out the room and take a break.
How would you deal with this ? I will speak to him tues what should I says but I have to work with him closely and I’m dreading it .

I think he thinks he can say what he wants as I’m a temp and quite quiet . There’s no management around at the moment , but he’s only one grade above me and has no authority.

Contact management, he is horrendously out of order.

Management must be available by phone surely?

Find some one in management and tell them - someone from another team if necessary.

If I found out one of my direct reports was behaving like this I’d put a rocket up their backside!

That’s appalling. It doesn’t matter that you’re a temp. Make a written record of everything he has said and how it made you feel. Look on the intranet and see what it says about bullying and harassment and call whoever is listed - there may be informal support / signposting or you may want to go straight to HR.

You speak to HR. Straight away. This person is out of line.
