Help with work from home

Ive never worked from home before! Work have agreed it in the current situation and I have everything I need to do so. But they’ve asked me about whether I’ve spoken to my landlord and home insurance. I haven’t yet so will do so tomorrow ( obviously this has all happened rather suddenly).

But I’m worrying whether the landlord could refuse permission and if that would be unreasonable in light of the governments latest advice? I won’t have clients or visitors to the property, no deliveries for work, no noise or disruption for my neighbours, I won’t be running my own business, I’ll just be doing admin for my usual employer on a laptop so no dangerous equipment. I pay all bills so while they may increase that’s not the landlords problem. I’ll be home for an extra 40 hours a week so I guess they could argue extra wear and tear on the property?? But it’s a temporary situation albeit none of us know for how long.

I’ve lived here for several years and want to stay for several more so don’t want to piss them off! They’ve been very reasonable up til now, but this sort of thing really stresses me out!

They wont know if all you are doing is admin on a laptop. The only issues would be if you had clients to your property, then specific insurance would be required.

Working from home is a doddle, I've had a home worker contract for over 10 years. As long as you keep focused you'll get plenty done and possibly even have a little more time as you wont have commute, chat by the kettle, photocopier, water station - you get the idea.

I often break my day up with a walk around lunch - even in these times you can still do this and remember to keep hydrated, its easy to forget when your on your own at home x
