i had a great day at uni today, was so nice to be using my brain again and talking to someone other than bean. i feel like i should have been crying my eyes out and worrying all day though. am i just the worst mum ever?

beansmum, after all the agonising you have done about going back, you can hardly be described as a bad mum!!

I imagine you are just so relieved that you enjoyed your first day, and littlebean came out of the nursery none the worse for wear. Really glad you had a good time. x

No you're not a bad mum Beansmum - you're a well rounded individual (in a nice way)

tamum · 04/10/2004 21:29

Glad it went well- did he settle OK?

beansmum · 04/10/2004 21:32

he was fine, exhausted though, he's not used to having so many people around. he only slept 1hr all day and i could hardly keep him awake for his bath when we got home! i only left him for 3 hrs then went in and fed him and left for another 4 hrs so maybe i didn't have time to really miss him?

I didnt miss my too that much either, in fact today they phoned me to take them home because they seemed unwell, which actually they were fine when i took them home, and i was gutted, had just been having a chat with dp and SIL. In peace. Ah well. Wot are you studying?

beansmum · 04/10/2004 21:52

people kept phoning me tonight asking if i was ok and was bean ok. felt awful saying actually, yes we both had a great time!

i'm studying maths, luckily my timetable's quite good, half day on tuesday and all day wednesday off.

That's exactly what happened when I went back to work ? was so busy getting back into everything completely forgot to worry about ds. Very strange feeling when I remembered I hadn't worried about him, IYSWIM.
Congrats on first day back.

bunnyrabbit · 05/10/2004 09:07

Not at all.. so glad that your first day back was a success for you both. Little bean sounds exactly the same as babybunny. Sleeps very little at nursery and is knackered when I get him home.

Enjoy!

OOH, i remember that first day of ds going to nursery and me going to lectures - the feeling of lighthearted bliss as I left him - the feeling of freedom as I walked into the lecture theatre without a pushchair and changing bag and baby - the feeling of exhileration at thinking and talking to and with adults all day....
Maybe I am a bad mum, but ds (now 3.2) is a wonderful child, so I can't be that bad!
