Hi
I am lost with what to do - I’ve been out of work for 14 months due to being made redundant and the pressure is on to get a job. Ive been applying for the last 5 months and don’t seem to be able to get even an interview. I’m applying for jobs everyday in the hope that something will work out. Ive registered with agencies too.
Debt is mounting up and I just don’t know how I can make this right. My anxiety is through the roof and I just feel so trapped.
I’m scared and worried!

What field of work do you have experience in?

yelyak0302 · 04/03/2020 22:29

Research and development - I’ve worked within that area for 9 years

Are you just applying for Research and development jobs? Or are you applying for jobs where you can transfer your skills?

I do think in general the market has been quieter due to Brexit and political instability.

How active are you on LinkedIn? It’s really worth putting together a great CV and posting what you’re looking for

Also, what kind of R&D? If you can provide more info, I might be able to point you in the direction of some contacts

CornishPorsche · 06/03/2020 20:06

Are you looking at places like NHS jobs, Civil Service jobs etc? R&D is such a wide topic that you might want to look at transferable skills. Are you a scientist or a marketer for example?

I think you need to be applying more generally. I do fair bit of civil service and schools (business) recruitment if you want some guidance. PM me.
