M&S Annual Leave - Help!

Hi,
I'm hoping someone who works at M&S might be able to help. My 17yo DS has a part time role at our local store, working Sundays in the cafe.

He insists that he cannot book holiday as they keep reducing using his annual leave entitlement by scheduling days off for him with little notice, or deducting occasional hours by reducing the length of a shift. He believes he cannot choose days himself.

I've tried to get him to get a copy of his contract, or speak to HR, but he's bloody useless and keeps forgetting.

Can anyone shed any light on what normal practice should be?

Hi
What m&s doing Is ok . There is only a certain amount of hours for holidays so when they are gone they need put the remainder where there is availability before the end of March . He needs to book his holidays has soon has possible when they come out , most people likes to book all there holidays at once so when the new allocation comes out he needs to book them so he can get what he wants ,so this helps

Thanks for the reply.

I understand what you mean, but they've been doing this since he started back in October. It's not just coming about because it's the end of the holiday year.
