Desperate for voluntary redundancy

My company have offered all staff voluntary redundancy as they are restructuring, so not everyone will be eventually offered it, it depends where they fit into the structure. I'm desperate to be selected. I'm financially unable to leave without a refundancy payment because i cannot find another job which pays anywhere near what I'm on so right now I'm stuck, but redundancy will give me some breathing space and money to retrain. (been there a long time so based on the calculator they've provided it's a considerable offer) one or two people have said they've emailed their group manager to persuade them to let them go - is there any point in doing this? Or just sit tight and wait and see?

Do you know how they'll be selecting people the roles that will remain?

Wouldn't bother emailing they have to have a criteria to select people in case people appeal they have to show it equal fair and above board.

I’d email and put your hat into the ring - if it’s voluntary redundancy they might be glad to know who wants to go rather than make someone redundant who wanted to keep their job.

I would have a word with your manager to say that you were interested

Thank you I've put my name forward but I'm deserately hoping I'm selected. As yet i don't know if my dept will be one they will be looking to lose heads from.
