Help! I still haven’t worked out what I want to be when I grow up

I work in admin, and I keep reading that I'll eventually lose my job to a robot. My previous experience is mainly in retail and, well, enough said.

I have an English/linguistics-related degree, but have never really used it at work. I did try to get into publishing or journalism and had one unpaid work experience placement, but that gave me the impression that the print industry is declining fast, and there are very few paid jobs around.

I enjoy writing, I’m good at memorising facts for exams and I’m happy working alone or as part of a team. However, I have poor dexterity so am not very well-suited to manual work, and I don’t have the right sort of brain to be a techie.

I’d like to develop a specialism and gain new skills or qualifications that should still be in demand in twenty years’ time. Any ideas? I’m 38, but I’ve got another 30 years to work until my state retirement age, so I haven’t given up on finding a career.

Are you chatty and comfortable talking to strangers ( not in a weird way, by strangers I mean clients )
Or more introvert, ie work on a project without interruption.
Do you have any interests that might morph into a possible career. iedo you love baking or have an eye for clothes styling, home making or a flair of keeping children entertained etc etc .
What lifts your spirts in life ?
Always better to start working at something you at least enjoy in my opinion

I’m a lot better at chatting to strangers than I used to be, but I’m an introvert. I don’t think I have any hobbies that I could turn into a career, sadly. I used to love foreign travel and I dabbled in landscape painting?
