Leaving a temping job for perm

I’ve just started some part time temping for a local government. I’m also waiting for security clearance for a civil service job which takes 6-8 weeks, currently on week 2 but could take more time.

The temping job needs no notice period from either party but they expect the temping job to run for 3-6 months before funding is approved for a perm post.

So when I get my security clearance I can just tell them and leave? Even though no notice is needed I would give them one week of notice as a courtesy.

Does that sound reasonable?

I would give as much notice as you can, as it's not just a one week contract, out of courtesy.

I used to temp and people were fine about leaving a contract early when something permanent came up.

I’ve been there two weeks and my clearance has come through...how do I tell them I’m not coming back next week? #awkward

Have you arranged a start date for your CS job? Highly doubt they will onboard you next week. Make sure that is all in place before you give notice.

I have a start date and don’t mind having a couple of weeks off in between jobs.
