30 minute interview. Bad sign?

Just interviewed for a local government team lead role. I am in charity sector so not internal. It was a very structured Q&A type interview but I thought it would take longer ... That means I haven't got it I suppose? I had reasonable answers I think but who knows? I wish the MN hive mind could tell me! I will have to wait for the dear John.

Still it is good experience. Just so bloody stressful innit. I needed to whine before I wine.

How many questions were there?

FlemCandango · 06/02/2020 16:21

Um about 12 I think

I can tell within about 5 mins if I want to interview the person in front of me, so I much prefer these shorter interviews. The ones which are an hour you have to totally pad out and it’s such a waste of time if you have 5 candidates to see.

Don’t read too much in to it, this is very normal!

PopcornAndWine · 06/02/2020 16:27

Not necessarily a bad sign. I was on an interview panel once and the successful candidate did the shortest interview. All her answers were brilliantly articulate and concise - absolutely no waffle!

My interview for my current company lasted about 10 minutes (after a 40 minute drive - nice) and I got offered the job 2 hours later.
Don't worry, every interview is different

Cheers folks that's actually really reassuring. I still obviously might not be right for the role etc. But there is hope

I meant to put hire not interview in that first sentence!

SallyWD · 06/02/2020 16:40

My most recent interview was no more than 20 minutes long. I was offered, and accepted, the job.

UncomfortableSilence · 06/02/2020 16:42

Means nothing, my current role was a 20 minute interview, was scheduled for an hour and I was offered the position 3 hours later.

Snaga · 06/02/2020 16:49

I was offered a job off a 20 minute interview. If you hit all the right notes there's no point in dragging out the interview for appearances sake.

Best of luck.
