Hi just a bit of a warning, Ds2 applied to this company with 3 other friends. He had to pay £1 to register, he then wanted to cancel and was asked to pay £50 cancellation fee. One of the friends has had £100 taken from her account. Ds2 has contacted his bank and has a new card coming but was told the company may be still able to claim the money. IMO this company are appealing to students who have little money anyway.

That's disgusting. It is exploiting people who are happy to have found work which fits in with their life. Who can they be reported to?

elephantoverthehill · 02/02/2020 21:14

I don't really know. All their responses seem to be very positive. I just don't get it.

From the website (and I'm happy to be corrected) it looks like he booked/reserved a space. It clearly states in the terms and conditions that if you wish to cancel that space, a £50 charge applies - your son should have taken note of this

I'm not sure it's that clear that you need to pay £50 if you cancel, it took me 15 minutes to find that info.

So basically, you pay £50/week for a room in a shared house - you have to pay another £50 for the deposit on the room and then £50 for use of the "rep service' whist you're out there. There's no guarantee of any work either. You'd be better just going out there and getting your own room and not paying any of the companies fees!

There's clearly something dodgy going on though - trust pilot have taken down their reviews.

I'd complain to trading standards and make sure your son and his friends post on as many review sites as possible so that other people don't get drawn in.

I have personally used this company and they are very good. The company set me up with a package initially for a month in the resort of Ibiza. They helped me to get to know other people in the same situation as me going to work abroad in Ibiza through private facebook groups and chats which made me feel extremely comfortable so I know people before I arrived.
Obviously when booking through their website you do need to read terms and conditions but thats the same with every booking you make.
I stayed in Ibiza the full summer as they extended my accommodation and I would definitely recommend doing this if its something youre interested in.
Overall I can't fault them, I had accommodation, got a job and met new friends along the way. Hope this helps.

@BethanyEv2

It's fortunate that you, a happy customer, happened along and spotted a two month old post, and managed to set the record straight with almost the same words used on the very few positive reviews to be found on the web.

Of course that's possibly because a number of trusted sites have removed posts praising the experience because they have deemed them to be "tainted".

BethanyEv2 · 17/04/2020 23:09

@moondust001 If im honest the whole post on this thread is about someone not reading terms when making a booking and not liking the fact they are in an agreement.
I was just trying to help with my own personal experience from doing this

Message to all mums whose kids want to sign up for this - please read the T&C before you press that button and pay £1 as stated on their application form. By doing this you are entering into a contract without realising that you will immediately have £200 taken from your bank account followed by a outstanding balance of £500. This company does not state this up front and basically you are entering into something without knowing the full cost. This company is not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority and if you cancel you will lose money. A lot of kids attracted to this do not have the money to lose and this company will threaten you with a debt recovery agency to claim their money. Please read reviews on this company as others have been caught out. Know what you are getting into!!!
