IT support interview prep

My husband has an interview on Monday for an IT support role. Any pointers for how he can impress? Any advice on what he can expect?

I would have thought they would ask about his experience using whatever systems and software the company use if these are standard ones - should be specified in the advert or job spec, so worth brushing up the technical details of them. I guess if its a first line customer support role they will also want to know he understands the basics of when to escalate something, how to follow a SOP, and the principles of how ticketing etc. works (although the actual systems and processes will vary place to place).
Beyond that I would have thought it would be standard enough stuff about why he wants the job, his personal qualities and competency type questions on topics like team working, customer service (particularly important in 1st line roles), time management, organisation and prioritisation, problem solving, communicating difficult/technical concepts to 'lay' people etc. Make sure he has good examples prepared to answer these questions in a 'STAR' format. Also he should research the company well and understand what they do, their priorities, 'vision', values etc and be able to talk about how IT fits into that. And finally he should have some good questions prepared for them at the end to show enthusiasm and interest in the job and the company (not just 'what's the salary', 'can I have a space in the car park', those are valid practical points but not for that section!)

@maxelly (or anyone else reading this!) my husband has been offered a second interview. Yay! He's been asked to prepare a few answers for this. One of them is as follows saying how he would go about:
Installing Active Directory on a Windows Server with Roaming Profiles and how you’d roll it out company-wide (PC only)
What's the best method for rolling this out company wide?

Anyway you deploy Roaming Profiles via Group Policy.

@TheWorldAsh brilliant thank you! The role is "IT support Junior" in a publishing company. But after the interview today it appears it won't be so much of a junior role. Do you have any other advice for the question I mentioned above as a whole?

Yep roll out with Group Policy. Emphasis the importance of the PC actually being restarted regularly in order for policy to be installed on the machine and that internal communications about the change should tell the user's when to restart

@MsChatterbox Setting up Active Directory is a fairly big thing to do for a Junior role.
However here's a guide how to promote a meme bee server to a Domain Controller.
As for Group Policy. Well technically it doesn't need a restart. The default refresh period is 90 minutes or gpupdate /force from the command prompt - logs off, not restarts. Joining a Domain though does require a restart.
Anyhoo. Communications, customer skills, making sure users are involved and supported, and processes (look up ITIL) are as important as technical skills.
