Seasonal Work at Christmas - how much per hour?

I've not worked in retail before and I have interviews with M&S and Boots on Sat and Mon. Their blurb just says 'competitive salary', but does anyone know how much I should expect per hour?

Also, any interview tips for working in a customer-facing role would be appreciated!

Thanks!

tbh i wouldn't expect pay to be that brilliant pay - probably in the region of £5.50/£6 per hour. I imagine you will be asked questions on how you get on with people/experience with people/cashhandling experience etc.

Minimum wage. So around £5 an hour.

Hi I recently got Xmas work in M&S and they offered me £5.68 an hour and time and a half on Sunday. In the interview they just asked questions like..... tell me about a time when something went wrong and how did you cope with it....... tell me about a time when you went out of your way for a customer. etc

The worst part of the interview was when we had to go out onto the shop floor and I had to ask two different shoppers some questions so that they could see how I reacted to customers.

Lots of luck.

Thanks for replies - I wasn't expecting megabucks ... but the Minimum Wage!! Was hoping for £6 (especially from co's of their standing) but looks like (from your message, Sam) that that's not likely then. Thanks for the warning about speaking to customers on the shop floor!
