Giving notice

Hi all.

Ive decided to hand my notice in following maternity leave. I have to give 8 weeks (need to be back for 12 weeks anyway to avoid paying it back). I have been there 10 years and feel like i should give my manager a heads up...should i message her informally or i could give 12 weeks? Or just give 8.... wwud?

I didn’t want to go back after mat leave but also didn’t want to repay anything or miss out on my annual bonus (which I was entitled to)
I sounded out my boss and we agreed that I would give 2 months notice (should have been 1) and be on gardening leave, still getting my bonus and company car etc. They may not want you back if your mat leave has settled in
