Need work from home or online
18

GreenWhistle · 29/12/2019 19:20

I need to find a work from home or online job, or even a business idea.

Can anyone help with ideas?

I've looked at Appen and Lionbridge but they do not look reliable enough. Same with Matched Betting.

I used to have a great job 3 days week as a remote PA to a Harley St doctor and could do with something like that again.

I need to earn minimum of £800 a month.

I'm good at certain crafts so have considered my own business selling online but again feel it's not reliable and probably won't make enough money.

Done lots of online searching and I'm coming back with nothing, but there must be something out there!

Recently disabled and trying hard to find something before my savings run out and I have to go onto benefits, which I really don't want.

Have you thought of being a virtual assistant? Lots of people are outsourcing tasks to VA’s now. There’s a website called fiverr where you can advertise. Maybe speak to some local recruitment companies to see if they have anything that would suit you for remote working.

Something will turn up for you soon!

I've investigated being a VA but it looks like it's not reliable enough.

Spoke to a couple of women that do it and work can be few and far between and I probably wouldn't earn enough.
It is something I could look at doing alongside a secure job in the future to top up, but I need the secure job first.

A lot of these online things I'm finding are top ups or side hustles rather than a secure part time job.

Transcription work can be done online. Also translation services if you are bilingual.

I taught English online between jobs and earned about £1200 a month, you need a degree and a TEFL certificate I did this alongside part time other work, I had time for both

No second language sadly.

I have a design degree, done before computers were around.

Otherwise 20 yrs experience on admin, customer services and emergency services.

Also have entry level quals in life coaching, councelling, nlp, eft, hypnotherapy and could do this online as a side hustle, but probably not on its own.

Tefl certificate sounds interesting. I'm good with people and coaching.

Did you do it from your own website or through a company?

I had a look at that but it looked like you had to get more involved than just working from home.

Thanks, I'll try contacting them to find out which tefl course they prefer you to have.

It could be a longer term possibility if not an instant one.

My local council offer remote working for benefit administrators. Have you typed in 'work from home' in Indeed? I often find quite a lot of results in my area. I hope something turns up for you.

Hi op. Many market research companies now have their interviewers working purely from home now. It's also quite common to be registered with more than one at a time meaning you could try to mitigate being without work. They set you up with the right technology and off you go. Once you get your feet under the table, so to speak, there is often an opportunity to increase your rate also. Hours are flexible usually from 9am to 9pm and weekends too.

If you can invest in doing a course, I would look at doing database administration, particularly Salesforce - they do their own qualifications.

My firm, and another I worked at, use remote workers for data clean-up and ongoing database admin roles. Definitely worth checking out. www.supermums.org offer courses I think

Customer service? I know that Enterprise the car rental company has remote roles. There are a few companies with telephone roles, but I think you have to invest in a few bits like a headset.
