Handing notice

I handed my notice in on 13 December then was off on the Monday Tuesday sick and again Friday now off on Xmas holidays I don't want to go back on 2 January until 10 January it's awful I'm ignored isolated things are said behind my back and the lady I work for has been saying things I think they will give a bad reference I haven't done anything wrong I work so hard the others are young and sit around talking most of the day I complained to their boss but nothing was done your just seen as a complainer which I'm not I really feel depressed and thinking about Dr signing me off so I don't go back but worried about references and what they could do can anyone advise thank you

It sounds like your situation is beyond repair, and all you can hope is that they just stick to giving a factual reference when the time comes (ie if you get a new job), which many employers do, to circumvent the unpleasantness of criticising their former employee and facing a backlash.

I have been told that by more than one HR department of an NHS trust to never give more than a factual reference as if anything is bad in it, they could be sued for defirmation of character. So hopefully you'll be fine
