A normal working day is 6.5 hours for me. However on New Year's Day, due to closing early I'm working 4. I get time and a half plus a day in lieu. My question is ....how many hours do I put down for the lieu day? 6 (time and half amount) or normal 6.5 or 4???

Its 6.5 your normal day as its to replace the days holiday you lost

Thank you, that's what I thought. My boss confused me saying to put down 4 hours

You need to agree this with your employer.
It should be at the rate accrued so 4 hours.
Verify it first as should the situation be over 6.5 hours next time they can easily just pay 6.5 instead of any additional time.

There is no rule, it is up to your employer.

In places I have worked I was financially given time and a half, but lieu time was straight time worked.
