I hate my job

hi all, I've been in my job for over 1 year and about 6 months we got a new ceo. since then things have really started to change and the atmosphere is very flat and boring. the day drags and it makes me feel miserable. On top of that a member of my team has left and they aren't replacing her so more work is falling on me. I bluffed and said I had another job offer in the hope of a counter offer but was told there is no money and the company is basically surviving off its 'savings.'

The job itself is ok and I only went for it due to the salary but It is starting to make me feel really low. On top of that they are stopping working from home days which is something I liked doing to have the flexibility. I have a long notice period and am thinking just to hand my notice in and find another job in that time period. The people are all very cliquey and I would have considered staying if the atmosphere was better and I have tried to make friends but most of the ppl are quite dry and seem to be happy with the tumbleweed atmosphere. I am a young professional and the environment just doesn't seem to gel with me.

Should I just leave without having anything else lined up or is that being silly as I also have a mortgage to pay. I could find another job but the pay won't be as good. Im starting to think the money isn't worth it sometimes

The money isnt always worth it as money isnt everything, however if you have a mortgage it seems foolish to leave before you get a new job.

there's lots of warning signs in your OP

someone left and isn't being replaced
they've stopped working from home
they don't have any money and are relying on 'savings'

Get another job asap, before this business closes and you end up unemployed
