Job interview - work sickness

Hello all, I'm looking for some advice. I've been in my current job for around 18 months. However, it absolutely stresses me to the max. I was sent home a few weeks ago because I was so upset, my manager advised me to see the go, which I did. GP signed me off for a few weeks. I've been frantically looking for something else work wise, and have a job interview this week. Now I'm really worried about what to say about this time off. I know whatever way I look at it, that it's a negative. I'm really looking for help with the best way to explain this. I understand that it's not the done thing to ask about attendance at an interview (I think!), but it is something that's put in references, as far as I know. But would I be better just to come clean at the interview?
TIA!

Don't bring up illness at interview.

Do not say anything at the interview!
No, it's not always put in references.
If you are finding the job stressful then you aren't the right person for it and you will absolutely be doing yourself, and your employer a favour by looking for another job.
I assume you have good references from your previous job?
Good luck!

Most employers only give factual references these days (dates of employment and job title) so it's very possible your absence won't be mentioned

Thank you. Unfortunately you're right @Cuddling57 - it isn't the job for me. Which is upsetting as the people I work with are great. I've made some lovely friends. Previous to this job, I was at Uni while bringing my family up but I have some voluntary positions and good character references.
Thanks all, and fingers crossed for moving on
