New job

I recently accepted a new job which is a promotion but I can't stop crying.

I absolutely hate it I feel like I've been misold the position and it isn't what I expected.
The place is also very very dated which I didn't know as I was only taken to the 'nice' part.

Everything about it aside from salary feels like a step down I hate it so much.

I have no friends here.

I've given up long service to take this role and I feel so heart broken please help 😭😭😭😭

I know I sound really pathetic but I'm really worried Im also the main earner.

You don't sound pathetic, you just sound extremely stressed. My advice (and I know it's much easier said than done) is to take a deep breath, try and stop crying and catastrophising, everyone makes mistakes. It's basically impossible to tell what a job is really going to be like from the advert and interview process, and this means many many people (I'd say nearly everyone) ends up in a job that wasn't what they thought/hoped it would be at some point in their careers.

You aren't in imminent danger of losing your job from the sounds of things so there is no need for panic, you just need to put up with it for as long as it takes to find another, better job. Are you having some time off over Christmas? I'd try and forget about work as much as possible, relax, enjoy time with the family, and then when you get back in January do 2 things:

1. Do whatever is necessary to get through the day at work, head down and get your work done as quickly and stress free as possible. Don't worry about making friends or trying to impress/go the extra mile, you are leaving asap anyway. Try and ignore the horrible surroundings as much as you can.

1. Throw all the extra energy you can summon into looking for a new job. Clearly you are capable and can come across well at interview as you've been offered this job, you will be offered another. Yes you may get a few raised eyebrows/questions about why you are leaving this job soon after starting, but see my point above about this happening to many people - it may even have happened to someone on the panel! Plus you have a good long service record at your old job so it's clear you aren't just the kind of person who changes jobs every 2 minutes. Practice telling a nice calm story about why you want to leave, you don't need to tell them the full warts and all truth, I wouldn't mention the dated building or not making friends as that risks coming across a bit thin as a reason for leaving. I'd even try and spin it to a positive thing if you can, you have ABC brilliant skills/experience that aren't being maximised and could be put to better use in XYZ elements of the new role.

I can't go back to my old job as it's been filled.

Im full of regret I regret this so much it's eating me up. Also doesn't help that this time of year isn't great for job hunting with the Christmas shut down.

The hours are killing me as well which I didn't expect and we arent entitled to overtime.
Half 7 start some days and not getting out till 6.
