Hi fbb, I am just about to accept a new job and I am also ttc,you mentioned on another thread about maternity allowance if you dont qualify for stat.maternity pay, can you tell me any more. I dont want to ask my new employers and the Benefits Agency is a nightmare to understand. I ahve been in continual employment for 16 years with one 6 months mat leave 2005. Many thanks

Hi giggly, sorry for delay, just back from my hols!
You should qualify for maternity allowance if you have spent 26 weeks in employment anywhere during the 66 weeks leading up to your due date, if that makes sense.
You may still get SMP though, you say you are ttc at the moment? You would qualify for SMP if you are employed with your new employer for 26 weeks ending with the 15th week before your due date, so if you are not actually pg when you start your new job you may still get SMP.
