Employer won't provide payslip

Me and my partner are applying for a mortgage but his employer won't provide a payslip for November. Their reasoning is that their new payroll system cocked up and didn't automatically produce the payslips and it's "too much work" to manually create one for him. Apparently he won't get a payslip until he's paid at the end of December. Is this allowed? It's my understanding that they have to produce a payslip before or on the day you get paid. Our mortgage application might be rejected because of this and I'm going to be annoyed if we have to use a lender with a less attractive deal and devastated if we lose the house because of this.

Would a bank statement showing the credit suffice?

dementedpixie Apparently not! We have a copy of the contract detailing his salary and also a bank statement, but they need a payslip.
