CV cap due to having children

I'm applying for a few part time jobs. I have nothing on my CV for almost 4 years due to having children. Do I explain this on there? If so what do I say?

Add a one line explanation alongside the dates: "Career break due to caring responsibilities". No need to mention it anywhere else unless you're directly asked, although if you're writing a cover letter you can add something along the lines of "After a career break caring for family, I am excited to re-enter the workforce because..."
