My firm has just improved its maternity policy - why couldn't they have improved it when I was on maternity leave?

HAs gone up from the statutory minimum to 100% of pay for 1st 6 weeks, then 50% of pay for next 10 weeks and 25% of pay for last 6 weeks.

Oh well, have to have another baby I suppose.

I am sure that is the additional maternity pay that was introduced by the government in 2002/3 or so I think. that is what my work said I was entitled to when I left to have dd in 2002. The only catch is - if you decide not to go back you have to pay it all back - anything over the statutory maternity pay. I was originally going to go back and then decided not to - so it was important to tell them before the statutory period was up otherwise I would have had to pay it all back.

I had DS in 2003 and the statutory pay was 90% for 6 weeks then £100 per week for the next 20 weeks. Then nothing for the Additional maternity leave which can be up to 26 weeks. Don't know if it changed again in April this year.....

So PCs sounds damn good to me.
