SMP and holiday

I'm going on maternity pay 27 th January. I'll still be owed 32 hours holiday pay. My employer has said she will pay me this while I'm on leave in April. Will this effect my SMP

Unless you are leaving employment holiday is paid time off, not extra pay, so you can’t receive it at the same time as maternity pay- either you are on holiday or you are on maternity leave.

You can take your holiday at the end of your maternity leave though- just come ‘back’ to work but be on holiday for a week (or whatever it is) then return to the office.

Or obviously you could take it before you start maternity leave.
