Changing from band 5 to 2/3

I wish I had stayed as a HCSW. I’ve been qualified 6 years and at the top of my band 5. Can I down band to a HCSW? Is this actually possible? If so can I do it in my current place or apply for other posts elsewhere? Please tell me I’m not the only one in this position.

Of course you can do that. You’ll probably have to apply though and might find your current place of work won’t allow it (risk that other staff would remember you as a senior figure and ask you stuff beyond your role putting you in a difficult position).

In our trust registered nurses are not allowed to, you would need to come off the NMC register first. Might be different in other trusts though. Why do you want to go back to being a support worker?

I am top of band 5 and work as a community nurse. I also want to drop bands but have been told that I will have to apply for a post when they come up.

I have worked as a lower band in my trust on a bank basis, they do allow it in my trust.
