SMP do I qualify?

I am due on the 30th of March 2020 but my contract ends on the 31st of December. I have worked with my employer for a year. I will also be classed as working for that employer during the qualifying week.
Do you think I will qualify for SMP from my current employer?

Provided you earn at least £118 per week, give the correct notice and give them proof you are pregnant you will qualify for SMP.

Yes you will, as long as you earn enough.

Sounds like you will qualify but as you won't be employed at the time, you might have to claim it from the government rather than through your employer

Ask them and then call ACAS if in doubt

No. Once someone has met the qualifying requirements for SMP from their employer, that’s what they get, even if they are no longer employed.

Women who don’t qualify for SMP may qualify for Maternity Allowance, which is something you have to claim from the government.
