Dismissal - Quantity Surveyor in construction industry

Hi all,

I've been told by the commercial director of our sister company, that 5 people from our company are going to be "sacked"...
We are a small company with under 20 office staff. I know for sure that as a business we have been struggling, we haven't been making profit and are struggling to win jobs. I've been with the company 2 years, I assume they can't just sack people, we'd have to be made redundant?
I struggle with anxiety anyway, so this is making me worse! Only me and one other in our company know, should I speak to my boss or keep quiet and wait?!

No they can’t just sack you if you’ve been there over 2 years. They can make you redundant following a consultation period.

Even if they are referring to 5 specific colleagues (not yourself) I would be using this ‘heads up’ to update my cv and start a stealth job search.
What a way to talk about their staff.
