What makes a good manager?

I am finding my days are being filled with anger at how absolutely rubbish my manager is...

My manager is obsessed with being better than every member of her team... anything anybody has done well 'she can do' and rather than saying well done, just reminds them of this.

It's driving me insane. Managers should enjoy having a well performing team should they not?!

My question is what makes a good manager?

Confidentiality. Have had the misfortune to v managed by gossips before.
Hard workers. Nothing like working your butt off just to see your manager with their feet up.
Impartiality. Even if you’re good friends with some colleagues, don’t bring that to work.

Interacting with all members of your team. Even just a hello in the morning.

Not micromanaging.

Finding out the aspirations of your team.

Trust in your subordinates.

A sense of humour.

Being approachable.
