Hey everyone. But of a weird question but has anyone ever applied for the prison service while they are pregnant. I applied when I was 20 weeks when I applied (few days ago). The job doesn’t start until March ( I’m being induced in January). I’ve been invited for a Arc day but I don’t know if they will let me take the fitness side of it while pregnant.

My daughter is 2 and will be in nursery and my other half is wanting to be a stay at home father for our newborn so I can work as I can earn more and I’d like to go back to work after 2 years off.

Has anyone had this experience? What did you do as I really don’t want to wait to reapply.

Hi Lisa, not sure if this is any help. I'm not in the prison service but I'm a firefighter. I'm not sure what an arc day is but I assume there are physical competence tests you need to complete. A soon as you notify your manager at my work you are assigned a desk role. I certainly wouldn't risk doing anything too demanding but speak to them and explain your situation. You can probably still go along but miss some of the more risky stuff. It can be frustrating but I think it's an insurance or health and safety issue. Good luck and please let us know how you get on!
